Setting up a Peer-to-Peer Network with Windows XP without using ';workgroups';?

I have 4 computers - a desktop (Window XP Home), a laptop (Windows XP Home), a laptop (Windows XP Pro), and a laptop (Vista). Desktop is wired to a Linksys wireless router - all laptops are wireless. router is connected to a cable modem. Printer is hardwired to router and has a static IP address.

Problem: All computers can access the internet and printer but I cant get any to access each other's files. Also, I cant set up a workgroup, since two of the laptops are configured to connect to MS Server environments at offices (if we add a workgroup, it messes up the office configuration, locks us out of computers, etc.

So - can someone advise me how to set up the peer-to-peer without workgroups and having one of the laptops with XP and the one with Vista set up so the existing network configurations dont get messed up?

I know it's probably complicated to do in such a short space.

Thanks in advance.Setting up a Peer-to-Peer Network with Windows XP without using ';workgroups';?
Here. The instructions can't be too far off for both.
