Setting up Network btn Vista & XP?

I'm having tons of problems setting up my home network. I have 2 desktops and 1 laptop. The laptop is wireless and the desktops are hardwired. Each are on one wireless capable router and have access to the Internet. Here's the problem. I want to share files and the printer on the main desktop with the upstairs desktop and the laptop.

The workgroup is set up and I can see the workgroup. I can see the main desktop but I can't get any of the folders I've set up as shared to be seen. I am running McAffee on the Vista (for now) and Norton 360 on the XP (upstairs). I've even tried to map a network drive and still can't see it. However, I can see the printer but haven't tried to see if printing will work. Any suggestions on how I can see the drive that I mapped or at least the folder?

Thanks!Setting up Network btn Vista %26amp; XP?
It looks like to me you have a general understanding of what you need to do to complete your home network. You know you have to create shared folders and you're in the same workgroup. What I think your problem is is this%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;your security suites are preventing you from connecting remotely. I've had this situation myself and this is the only thing that stopped me. Im familiar with McAfee so I can tell you for a fact that you might have to configure McAfees firewall to trust the other IPs of your other computers. Im assuming you know how to find your IPs, so once you do that, simply put them in the firewall in McAfee and it will you to see your computers. Now the steps should be the same for Norton. You seem to know what you want and need to do, so just make sure your security suites arent stopping you.
