Home network with wireless internet?

Hi, I am trying to set up a home network and am going round in circles (literally) !! Here is what I have:

PC

Running Windows XP

Wireless Card

Connected to wireless modem

Can use ethernet to connect to router or wireless card

Laptop

Windows vista

internal wireless card

Modem / Internet

Bigpond Wireless - USB wireless broadband modem

Router

Netgear DG834G which is a router and a modem

So, I am assuming that I cannot use the DG834G modem as I am running wireless internet and not ADSL.

Can I still set up the network without using the router as a modem? If so - how do I do it?? When I start to run the setup disk it automatically assumes I am using it as a modem and overrides the wireless modem. When It connects to netgear it then tells me that no ADSL connection is available and I cannot go any further with the set up.

Hope this is enough info. Any help would be appreciated....

I am a little confused by the function of all the devices: it seems you have a wired router/modem (Netgear) and a wireless router/modem (Bigpond).

You can enter setup menus for your devices from browsers by following a link like this http://192.168.1.1 You should be able to disable the modem function from a menu selection.

I think your issues stem from two sources of DHCP. You must decide where you want the DHCP to come from and turn it off in the other device: ie, your router becomes a switch and DHCP comes from the router/modem.Home network with wireless internet?
u should log to netgear router and read ur network name , u should know the WEP key

and then u go avaliable wireless network

and click on ur network name

and click connect , and add the WEP key

better call 888NETGEAR
sure

but sometimes with wireless internet other people can use your internet and make it slow
