How can I create home network with an xp pro and a vista Laptop?

I have the laptop connected to internet with wireless internet connection, and the 2 computers connected with cat 5 patch cable. The xp pro computer is a desktop unit. Both have working nic cards. I was able to set up network and ping back and forth but could not get xp to share internet connection, I want to be able to share files between the two computers and for the xp to share the laptop's internet connection.So the laptop is the host and xp is guest.Is this possible?How can I create home network with an xp pro and a vista Laptop?
if you have wireless internet connection for the laptop, I assume you are using a wireless router. Just get a wireless adapter for the desktop, and then the desktop can connect to the internet wirelessly also, since you have a wireless router, make both the laptop and desktop part of the same workgroup, enable file and printer sharing on both, and then you can share files between the two. your current configuration requires a crossover cable between the two computers, not a regular ethernet cable. check the wireless networking forum at dslreports.com for more info.How can I create home network with an xp pro and a vista Laptop?
Google ';Internet Connection Sharing.';
