How do you set up a LAN network for an internet connection on Windows Vista (10 pts)?

I just got a new Dell machine for home that has Windows Vista SP1 on it and I have one computer with a router and cable modem on it and the new computer I'm working with has a thing that you plug into the USB port and that is supposed to tune into the router on the other computer. The two computers make a small LAN. How do I set up the internet connection for the new machine? Anyone who has the right answer will get 10 pts. Thanks. How do you set up a LAN network for an internet connection on Windows Vista (10 pts)?
your thinking is not remotely close to being correct my friend , you said in your post that you have a router , well if thats the case find a empty port on the router and plug in the patch cable connect to the laptop and PRESTO internet , if you want wireless then of course the laptop has to have a wireless receiver (probably does) and the router has to have wireless also .
