Pleaase feel free to email me at bea_utifull143@yahoo.comHome networking with xp and vista help?
To share files between two computers through a router you have to do the following:
1. Make sure both machines are in the same workgroup.
2. Even though file sharing is enabled you must still share out at least one folder on each machine, usually the one called ';Shared Documents';. Right click on the folder and choose Sharing and share it out...on both computers.
3. If you've let the router set up with all the default settings you'll be using DHCP so you don't have to worry about IPs and subnet masks. If you used static IP setup I urge you to change it back to DHCP...saves a lot of headaches.
Good luck!
