How do I get my XP computer to show up in my Vista Network Explorer?

I've set up a home network with a computer running windows XP service pack 2, and a laptop running Vista. I've created accounts with the same username and password on each computer, and have given each computer access to the other through my firewalls. Both are under the same workgroup on the network, and I have allowed File sharing and network discovery on the vista computer. I have also downloaded and installed the patch released by microsoft that was ';supposed'; to fix this problem. What am I missing? How do I get my XP computer to show up in my Vista Network Explorer?
Have you set up shared printers or folders on the XP machine? If not the machine will not show. Also on XP you need to go to your network connections, right click your adaptor and select properties. Then select tcp/ip properties, click advanced, then click wins. Set always use netbios over tcp/ip, and turn off use lmhosts. Netbios is required for network browsing, Microsoft in their wisdom set it to default to off unless used without a server. It mistakes the dhcp server on the router for a server, and turns off.How do I get my XP computer to show up in my Vista Network Explorer?
Alright, I've done everything you said to do, however when I go to a folder, right click, and click share, after setting the permissions, it begins processing for about 2 minutes, then says ';Folder Could Not Be Shared';, giving no explanation. The XP computer still does not show.
