How do I get an XP laptop to access files on a Vista laptop over a home wireless network?

I have files on my Vista laptop that I would like my XP laptop to be able to access.

I can get my Vista laptop to show the existence of my XP laptop, but it gives an error message when I attempt to connect to the XP laptop through the Vista one.

On the other end, my XP laptop doesn't show ANYTHING from the Vista laptop.

Any suggestions on how to use my XP laptop to access the Vista computer?

It would be a huge help if someone could give step-by-step instructions. I have looked online extensively for hours and the only things I have found involve general instructions that I don't understand. Thank you in advance for the help :)

(Note: I assume both laptops have to be on. I also have each computer set up to share a folder to test with.)How do I get an XP laptop to access files on a Vista laptop over a home wireless network?
鈥?Step 1

NETWORK WINDOWS VISTA AND XP - STEP 1

Make sure the LLTD protocol is installed on the Windows XP computer.

You can do this by:

* opening the Network Neighborhood properties

* right clicking on the connection and selecting Properties

* if LLTD is available you will see ';Link Layer Transport Discovery'; in the list of available protocols.
