Help with setting up home network?

there are 3 computers in my house, 2 of them are running windows xp and one of them windows vista. i dont want to use the network for internet,just file sharing really. I also have a space netgear wireless router(was used for internet.... ) and quite a few ethernet cables. Can i set up the network since of the computers is running windows vista and how do i set it up? wireless through the router or with the ethernet cables through the router? any guides would be welcome
